Treasures from Grandma’s!! 1967 Albert King Born Under A Bad Sign LP Vinyl Album Stax Records S 723 VG/VG. Clean cover with shelf wear & some creases – rough edges, but no splits (see photos). Vinyl is in very good condition – scuffs & marks that may cause background noise especially in between songs, but no skips or repeating ticks. Note – although we do quickly clean all of our records in store, it is recommended to reclean when you receive them for optimal performance. Original 1967 Stax stereo pressing made at Atlantics pressing plants, as identified by the matrices. Matrices identify this as a 1967 pressing which was pressed at Atlantic Studios using Longwear Plating metalwork and a Scully Lathe. There are subtle differences compared to the 1968 stereo pressing, which was pressed at Columbias plants, including label texture, label font, matrix numbers and vinyl thickness. The original Atlantic pressings have thicker vinyl, slightly lighter yellow labels with slightly different font and crude hand-etched matrices. The Columbia pressings, which were issued during a brief transition in 1968 between Staxs termination of Atlantics distribution and being acquired by Gulf + Western, have thinner vinyl with machine-stamped matrices. This original Stax/Atlantic pressing should not be confused by the short-lived 1970 Atlantic reissue on the green and orange label. There is a small etching on Side B runout that might be “AB” Adrian Barber’s signature? Barcode and Other Identifiers. Matrix / Runout var. 1: (Side A) ST-STX-671057-A LW AT [W with three dots above]. 1: (Side B) ST-STX-671058-B. Feel free to ask any questions you may have! I answer all within 24 hours!
